We use the UK’s leading diathermy treatment equipment, Sterex, so you can feel confident that your procedure will be of high quality and your results will be great!

What is shortwave diathermy?

The shortwave diathermy machine and treatment uses heat as a basis, heating and coagulating the tissue and blood, leading to minimal to no bleeding.

The machine uses a fine, hair-like needle to heat up the blood in the targeted lesions and veins, which seals them shut and causes the vein to break down.

The machine closes the wound, which reduces the chance of excess bleeding as well as limiting any scarring.

Skin Tag

Skin tags are very common and most frequently found on the neck and face.

They often appear with a neck similar to a mushroom and vary in size, ranging from a speck to the size of a pea; some can be bigger.

Skin tags are often found in areas of friction where the skin folds, such as the armpit, under the breasts, and around the neck (where jewellery may be worn).

Before and After

It isn't easy to put a time on how long your procedure will last.

The average session will be:

1 skin tag = 0 -15 min
1-5 skin tags = 15 - 30 min

However please note that due to size time can vary.

Important Information

Skincare Routine Adjustment

Avoid Topical Products: Refrain from using any creams, lotions, or skincare products in the treatment area on the day of the procedure.
Cleanse : Cleanse the skin to ensure it is free from makeup, oils, or other residues.

Avoid Sun Exposure

Sunscreen Application: If your procedure involves an area exposed to the sun, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF to protect the skin. Sunburned or tanned skin can affect the effectiveness of the treatment.

Hydrate Well

Drink Water: Stay well-hydrated in the days leading up to the procedure. Hydrated skin responds better to treatments.

Arriving at the Clinic: What to Bring and Wear

Wear Comfortable Clothing: Choose loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the treatment area. This ensures convenience for the practitioner during the procedure.
Take Off Jewelry: Remove any jewellery or accessories from the treatment area to ensure they don’t interfere with the procedure.

Blood spots (bright red vascular blemish underneath the surface of the skin)
Spider naevus (central dilated blood vessels with smaller capillaries radiating from it)
Skin tags (very common and often found of the neck and face and folds of the skin vary from a raised speck to the size of a pea or larger),
Milia (tiny white hard lumps containing keratin underneath the surface of the skin)
Dermatosis papulosa nigra (smooth, dome shaped, brown or black papules mostly seen on cheeks, neck and upper chest),
Warts
Verrucas (small lump on the soles of your feet)
Seborrheic keratosis (benign skin lesions as a result of UV damage and ageing),
Moles (hairs in moles can be removed and colour of moles can be reduced).

The skin is cleansed with an antiseptic solution.

A fresh, sterile needle is inserted along the line of the blemish/lesion.

A heat sensation will be felt, similar to a pin prick.

This will cause gradual reduction in the appearance of the lesions (e.g. capillaries) or complete removal of the skin tags. In most cases, the treatment will be done in one session however on very rare occasions, you may need 2 sessions.
