A controlled arc of plasma, a natural response from your skin.
The Plasma Pen never touches your skin. Instead, it ionises the air just above the surface, creating a tiny arc that causes the targeted tissue to contract instantly — a process called sublimation.
That micro-trauma signals fibroblast cells to produce fresh collagen and elastin over the following weeks. Skin tightens, fine lines soften and loose tissue lifts, gradually and naturally, with no cuts, no stitches and no general anaesthetic.

On the Day of Your Appointment Please help your practitioner by avoiding strong perfume, aftershave, or heavily scented body products, as fragrances may trigger sensitivities or allergies. If possible, refrain from smoking and consuming alcohol on the day of your treatment. Children are not permitted in the treatment room to ensure a safe and distraction-free environment. Companions are welcome; however, please let us know in advance, as some treatment rooms have limited space. For the safety and wellbeing of everyone in the clinic, we reserve the right to postpone or decline your appointment if strong fragrances create a health concern. Before your Plasma Pen treatment, please inform your practitioner if you have a history of skin allergies, sensitivities, or adverse reactions to skincare products or previous aesthetic procedures. If you have a history of *keloid or hypertrophic scarring*, or if you have experienced poor wound healing in the past, please let us know, as this may affect your suitability for treatment. If your treatment involves the lip or peri-oral area and you have a history of cold sores, inform your practitioner in advance — prophylactic antivirals may be recommended. Always follow your practitioner's pre-treatment advice and inform us of any health concerns before your visit. *Skincare Routine Adjustment* For optimal results and to reduce the risk of complications, refrain from using any active skincare ingredients — such as retinol, retinoids, acids (AHA/BHA), vitamin C serums, or exfoliants — on the treatment area for *7–14 days* prior to your appointment. Avoid waxing, threading, depilatory creams, or aggressive facial treatments on the area for at least 2 weeks beforehand. Arrive with clean skin that is completely free from makeup, fake tan, oils, or other residues. *Sun Protection* Minimise sun exposure for *2–4 weeks* before your appointment. Sunburned, tanned, or recently peeled skin is not suitable for Plasma Pen treatment, as it significantly increases the risk of hyperpigmentation and poor healing. If the treatment area will be exposed to sunlight before your arrival, apply a broad-spectrum SPF 50. We may need to reschedule your appointment if the skin is compromised. *Hydration* Stay well-hydrated in the 24–48 hours leading up to your procedure. Hydrated skin responds better to treatment and heals faster. *Medications & Supplements* Please bring a complete list of everything you currently take. Unless prescribed by your doctor, please inform us if you are taking: - *Blood-thinning medications* (such as warfarin, apixaban, or aspirin) — these can increase bruising and bleeding during the procedure - *Isotretinoin (Accutane)* or have taken it within the last 6–12 months — this can severely compromise healing and increase scarring risk - *Photosensitising medications* (such as certain antibiotics, diuretics, or acne medications) — these can make your skin more reactive to treatment - *Steroids* or *immunosuppressants* — these can delay wound healing Do not stop any prescribed medication without first consulting your doctor. If you are unsure, please contact the clinic for guidance. *Alcohol & Lifestyle* Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your Plasma Pen treatment, as it can increase bruising, swelling, and bleeding during the procedure. Avoid strenuous exercise immediately before your appointment, as increased blood flow and body heat can increase skin sensitivity and redness. *Dietary Advice* To support your skin's healing capacity, eat a light, balanced meal before your appointment. Avoid very fatty, fried, or overly rich foods on the day of your treatment. Where possible, also avoid very spicy foods, as they may increase flushing or inflammation in some individuals. *Make-up & Contact Lenses* Please attend your appointment with clean skin and avoid wearing make-up on the treatment area. This allows your practitioner to properly assess your skin and ensures a sterile working surface. If your treatment involves the eye area, we recommend removing contact lenses before your appointment and bringing your glasses if needed. *Clothing & Accessories* Wear loose, comfortable clothing. If your treatment involves the face or neck, wear a top that does not need to be pulled over your head afterwards, as this could disturb the treated area. Tie long hair back and away from the face. Remove all jewellery, watches, or accessories from or near the treatment area before your appointment. *What to Bring* - Photo ID - Complete list of current medications and supplements (including dosages) - Any previous aesthetic treatment records you wish to discuss - Your glasses, if needed - A wide-brimmed hat or sunglasses — your skin will be sensitive to sun immediately after treatment - Hair tie or headband, if applicable *Important Reminders* If you are unwell — including cold, flu, fever, active skin infection, or cold sore outbreak — please contact the clinic to reschedule your appointment, as illness can affect healing and increase the risk of complications. Please inform your practitioner if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding, as Plasma Pen treatment is not suitable during these times. Disclose any autoimmune conditions, bleeding disorders, diabetes, or implantable devices before your treatment. Please also tell us if you have ever had: - A previous adverse reaction to Plasma Pen, laser, or energy-based skin treatments - A history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring - Recent facial treatments such as peels, microneedling, injectables, or laser — we typically recommend waiting 4–6 weeks between these procedures and Plasma Pen - Difficulties with local anaesthetic or numbing creams If you have any questions about your pre-treatment preparation, please contact Lisber Baldwin Clinic before your appointment.
