What is PRP-PRF

PRP and PRF are treatments that use your body’s natural and powerful healing proteins and concentrated growth factors to help with health and skin issues while also regenerating the treatment area. Both treatments contain healing and regenerative growth factors, but your practitioner  will decide which treatment is better for you depending on your desired outcome and the issues you want resolved.

PRP-PRF is an advanced regenerative treatment that is highly effective for erectile dysfunction, non-surgical sexual rejuvenation, sports injuries, and a wide range of orthopaedic conditions. It promotes the repair and regeneration of muscles, cartilage, and other tissues while helping to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, scars, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), and rosacea. With applications in both medical and aesthetic medicine, PRP-PRF offers a natural approach to healing and rejuvenation.

Enhance Your Testosterone Levels

IMG_7976.jpeg
 What is it?

PRP Sport & Testosterone is an advanced regenerative treatment that uses Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) — derived from your own blood — to support male hormonal health, athletic performance, muscle recovery, and tissue regeneration.

 For Testosterone Support (Scrotal Area)

PRP is carefully prepared and strategically injected into the *scrotal area* to support testicular tissue health, improve local blood circulation, and enhance the environment where testosterone is naturally produced. The growth factors in PRP stimulate tissue repair, support Leydig cell function (the cells responsible for testosterone production), and improve vascularisation in the region. This may help optimise your body's natural testosterone output without synthetic hormones.

For Sport & Muscle Recovery

PRP is injected directly into *targeted muscles, tendons, ligaments, or joints* to accelerate healing, reduce inflammation, and promote tissue regeneration. Athletes use PRP to recover faster from injuries, improve blood flow to muscle tissue, enhance strength output, and support overall musculoskeletal health.

Combined with Nutritional Therapy

For optimal results, PRP is complemented by *IV vitamin drips, intramuscular (IM) injections, and oral supplementation*. Key nutrients such as Vitamin D, B12, iron, zinc, and amino acids support blood quality, hormone production, collagen synthesis, and cellular regeneration — maximising the effectiveness of your PRP treatment.

This is a non-surgical, drug-free approach that harnesses your body's natural healing capabilities. Results develop gradually over several weeks as growth factors stimulate tissue regeneration. A consultation is required to determine suitability.

Important Information

Pre-appointment

Adhering to these preparation instructions can help ensure a smooth recovery and minimise the risk of complications. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Preparing for Your PRP Sport & Testosterone Treatment

To ensure safe treatment and optimal results, please follow these guidelines before your PRP appointment.

Stay Well Hydrated

Drink plenty of water for *24–48 hours* before your treatment. Good hydration supports blood quality and helps optimise the concentration and quality of the platelet-rich plasma (PRP). On the day of your appointment, continue drinking water throughout the day.

Avoid Alcohol and Limit Caffeine

Avoid alcohol for at least *24–48 hours* before your appointment, as it can contribute to dehydration and may affect blood quality. Limit or avoid caffeine for *24 hours* before treatment to help maintain optimal hydration.

Avoid Blood-Thinning Medications and Supplements

If medically appropriate, avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs), and supplements that may thin the blood, such as fish oil, omega-3 supplements, vitamin E, garlic supplements, and ginkgo biloba, for *5–7 days* before treatment.

*Always consult your GP or prescribing clinician before stopping any prescribed medication.*

Avoid Steroid Injections

Do not receive corticosteroid injections into the *scrotal area, pelvic region, or target muscles* for at least *4 weeks* prior to PRP, as steroids suppress the healing response PRP aims to stimulate.

Optimise Your Nutritional Status

For the best possible PRP quality, ensure your vitamin and mineral levels are within healthy ranges. Consider checking key blood markers with your healthcare provider, particularly:

- *Testosterone* (total and free)

- *Ferritin* (iron stores)

- *Iron levels*

- *Vitamin B12*

- *Vitamin D*

- *Zinc*

- *Magnesium*

Addressing any deficiencies may support overall health, blood quality, hormone production, and tissue regeneration. We also offer *IV vitamin drips and IM injections* to optimise your nutritional status before PRP treatment.

Sport-Specific: Rest Before Your Appointment

*For sport/muscle treatments:* Avoid strenuous exercise, heavy training sessions, or high-intensity workouts for *24–48 hours* before your appointment. This helps prevent additional inflammation in the target muscles and ensures the PRP can work on tissue that is in a stable, non-inflamed state.

*For testosterone (scrotal) treatments:* Avoid strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, or cycling for *24 hours* before your appointment to minimise heat, pressure, and inflammation in the pelvic area.

Wear Comfortable, Loose Clothing

*For sport/muscle treatments:* Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the treatment area:

- *Lower limb* (hamstring, calf, quadriceps, knee, ankle): Shorts or loose trousers

- *Upper limb* (shoulder, elbow, bicep): Sleeveless top or loose, short-sleeved shirt

- *Back or gluteal area:* Loose trousers or shorts

*For scrotal (testosterone) treatments:* Wear loose, breathable underwear and comfortable trousers. Avoid tight-fitting compression shorts or underwear that may cause pressure or overheating in the pelvic area.

Personal Hygiene (Scrotal/Testosterone Treatment)

Please ensure good personal hygiene on the day of treatment. Cleanse the treatment area thoroughly before your appointment. *Do not apply creams, lotions, oils, powders, deodorants, or other skincare products* to the treatment area on the day of treatment.

Avoid Treatment if You Have an Active Infection

PRP treatment cannot be performed on areas with *active infection, inflammation, rashes, open wounds, or broken skin*. This includes:

- Active skin infection in the scrotal or pelvic area

- Active muscle infection or cellulitis in the target area

- Recent bacterial or viral illness

- Fever or feeling unwell

Please contact the clinic if you develop any illness or infection before your appointment.

Inform Us of Your Medical History

Please disclose any of the following during your consultation:

- *Hormonal conditions* (e.g., diagnosed low testosterone, thyroid disorders)

- *Musculoskeletal conditions* (e.g., previous injuries, chronic pain, arthritis)

- *Bleeding disorders* or clotting issues

- *Medical conditions, medications, allergies,* or previous adverse reactions

- *Recent surgeries* or significant illness

- *Current supplements* or performance-enhancing substances

Eat Before Your Appointment

Have a *light, balanced meal 1–2 hours* before treatment. This can help reduce the risk of light-headedness and make your appointment more comfortable. Avoid heavy, greasy foods that may cause discomfort during the procedure.

On the Day of Treatment

- Continue *drinking water* throughout the day.

- *Arrive relaxed and on time* to allow for a smooth treatment experience.

- *Avoid strenuous exercise or heavy lifting* before your appointment to prevent additional inflammation in the target area.

- For *sport/muscle treatments:* Bring any relevant imaging (MRI, ultrasound) or reports from previous injuries if available.

- For *scrotal treatments:* Empty your bladder before the procedure for comfort.

What to Expect After Treatment

*For sport/muscle treatments:* You will need to rest the treated area for *3–5 days* before gradually returning to light training. Full return to sport is typically guided by your practitioner and usually occurs within *1–2 weeks* depending on the treated area.

*For scrotal (testosterone) treatments:* Avoid sexual activity, strenuous exercise, cycling, and tight clothing for *48–72 hours* to allow the PRP to settle and begin the regenerative process.

Important Information

Aftercare

Adhering to these aftercare instructions can help ensure a smooth recovery and minimise the risk of complications. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Proper aftercare is essential for maximising the healing potential, optimising results, and minimising complications. PRP targets the scrotal tissues, testicular environment, and/or muscles and soft tissue by utilising your body's natural growth factors. Please follow these guidelines carefully.

Rest and Activity Modification

For scrotal (testosterone) treatments:* Avoid sexual activity, including intercourse and masturbation, for at least *48 to 72 hours* to allow the PRP to settle and begin the regenerative process. Avoid strenuous physical exercise, heavy lifting, cycling, or activities placing excessive pressure on the pelvic area for *3 to 5 days*.

For sport/muscle treatments: Avoid strenuous physical exercise, heavy lifting, running, jumping, or high-impact training targeting the treated muscles for *3 to 5 days*. Gradually resume normal daily activities, but listen to your body. Walking and gentle movement are encouraged to promote circulation.

For combined treatments: Follow the more restrictive guidelines above. Return to full training and sport should be guided by your practitioner — typically *1 to 2 weeks* depending on the treated area and individual response.

Ice Application

Apply a cold pack wrapped in a cloth to the *treated area* (scrotal or muscle) for *10 to 15 minutes every 2 to 3 hours* during the first *24 to 48 hours* to help manage discomfort and reduce swelling. Always place a cloth or towel between the ice pack and your skin. *Do not apply ice directly* to the scrotal area or skin.

Pain and Swelling Management

Some tenderness, bruising, stiffness, or mild discomfort at the injection sites is common and expected. This typically lasts for *one to three days*. You may experience:

- Mild pressure or fullness in the scrotal or pelvic area (for testosterone treatment)

- Mild muscle soreness or tightness in the treated muscle (for sport treatment)

- Temporary increase in sensitivity

If needed, take *acetaminophen (paracetamol)* for mild pain.

Avoid NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, naproxen, and aspirin for at least one week*, as they interfere with PRP's natural healing properties.

Mild swelling is common and should subside within *2 to 3 days*. If swelling becomes excessive, is accompanied by significant pain, fever, or persists beyond one week, contact your practitioner immediately.

Sexual Activity and Pelvic Rest (Scrotal/Testosterone Treatment)

Refrain from sexual intercourse and masturbation for *at least 48 to 72 hours* to allow the PRP to settle and begin the regenerative process. After this initial rest period, gradually resume normal sexual activity, but avoid excessive strain or pressure on the treated area for the first week. Full engagement can typically resume after *one week*, or as advised by your practitioner.

Avoid Heat and Massage

Avoid hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, jacuzzis, and heat packs on the *treated area* for at least *48 to 72 hours* after injection, as heat can increase blood flow and exacerbate inflammation.

Refrain from massaging, rubbing, squeezing, or manipulating the *scrotal area or treated muscles* for at least *one week*, as this may disrupt the healing process and affect growth factor distribution.

Hygiene and Infection Prevention (Scrotal/Testosterone Treatment)

Keep the injection area clean and dry. Wear *loose, breathable cotton underwear* to promote airflow, reduce moisture, and avoid overheating in the pelvic area. Avoid tight clothing, compression shorts, or underwear that may cause friction, pressure, or elevated temperature on the scrotal area.

For muscle treatments:* Keep the injection site clean and covered if advised. Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, and baths for *48 to 72 hours* to reduce infection risk.

If you notice increased redness, warmth, significant swelling, pus, unusual discharge, or fever, contact your practitioner immediately — these may be signs of infection.

Enhancement Protocol (Scrotal/Testosterone Treatment)

Your practitioner may recommend using a *penile pump* to enhance results. If advised, begin *24 to 48 hours* after the procedure and use it for *10 to 15 minutes daily* for *4 to 6 weeks*, following specific pressure guidelines provided.

Supplement support: Your practitioner may recommend L-arginine, citrulline, or specific vitamins to support vascular health and testosterone production. Only take supplements as directed by your practitioner.

Gentle Movement and Rehabilitation

*After 72 hours*, begin gentle range-of-motion exercises and light walking as advised by your practitioner.

For muscle treatments, gradual physiotherapy may be recommended to strengthen the area and restore full function.

For sport: Do not force movement or push through pain. Deep breathing, gentle stretching, and walking are encouraged to promote circulation. Gradually reintroduce training based on your practitioner's guidance.

Monitor the Injection Site

Though rare, infection is possible. Contact your practitioner immediately if you notice:

- Increased redness, warmth, or significant swelling

- Pus or unusual discharge

- Fever or feeling unwell

- Severe or worsening pain

Small bruises or needle marks are common and should resolve within a few days to one week. Small lumps may form at injection sites — these typically resolve on their own within *1 to 2 weeks*.

Do not attempt to massage or drain them.

Nutritional Support and Hydration

- *Drink plenty of water* to support cellular regeneration, optimal healing, and blood quality.

- *Avoid alcohol for at least 48 hours* post-injection, as it can interfere with healing and increase bruising.

- *Smoking impairs blood flow and compromises results*, so avoid it for at least one week. Ideally, use this as an opportunity to quit.

- Maintain a *nutrient-rich diet* to support tissue repair, collagen production, and hormonal health.

*For enhanced results, consider combining PRP with:*

- *IV vitamin drips* — for immediate hydration and cellular support

- *IM injections* (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron) — for targeted nutrient delivery

- *Oral supplements* — zinc, magnesium, Vitamin D3, B-complex, and omega-3s to support testosterone production and muscle recovery

> *Note:* Individual results vary. Some patients notice improvements within 2–4 weeks, while others require the full 3–6 month period for optimal benefits. Combining PRP with proper nutrition, hydration, and a structured training programme will maximise your results. Contact your practitioner if you have any concerns during your recovery.
