What is Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is a solution applied to the face to remove dead skin cells and stimulate the growth of new cells.

The aim is to improve the appearance of the skin, for example, by reducing age spots and evening-out skin tone.

What is Cosmelan Peel?

Cosmelan® is a professional depigmentation treatment designed to reduce the appearance of pigmentation, dark spots, and uneven skin tone. It is widely recognised as one of the most effective clinical treatments for managing hyperpigmentation concerns.

Cosmelan® is a topical treatment that works by targeting the biological processes involved in excess melanin production. Its advanced formulation is designed to help inhibit melanin activity in affected areas while maintaining a high level of skin tolerance, making it suitable for a wide range of skin types.

In the weeks following treatment, many patients notice a visible improvement in skin clarity and brightness. Pigmented areas may appear lighter and more even, while the overall complexion looks smoother and more radiant. Cosmelan® is commonly used to address concerns such as age spots, dark patches, melasma, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Results develop progressively and vary between individuals. A consultation is required to assess suitability and create a personalised treatment plan.

Avoid direct sun exposure, sunbeds, and fake tan for 2 weeks before your appointment.

Important Information

Aftercare

Adhering to these aftercare instructions can help ensure a smooth recovery and minimise the risk of complications. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Following the correct aftercare is essential to support skin recovery and achieve optimal results from your Cosmelan® treatment. Please follow the guidance below unless advised otherwise by your practitioner.

  • Follow Your Prescribed Homecare Protocol
Use Cosmelan® homecare products exactly as instructed. Do not alter frequency or application without professional advice.

  • Expect Visible Skin Reactions
Redness, tightness, dryness, peeling, flaking, and mild discomfort are common and expected. These effects vary between individuals and typically settle over time.

  • Avoid Sun Exposure
Avoid direct sunlight and sunbeds for at least 4–6 weeks. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 50 daily and reapply as advised.

  • Do Not Pick or Peel the Skin
Allow peeling skin to shed naturally to reduce the risk of irritation or post-inflammatory pigmentation.

  • Avoid Heat & Excessive Sweating
Avoid hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, and intense exercise for 48–72 hours.

  • Avoid Active Skincare Products
Do not use retinoids, acids (AHA/BHA), vitamin C, exfoliants, or fragranced products unless specifically instructed.

  • Gentle Cleansing Only
Cleanse with a mild, fragrance-free cleanser using lukewarm water. Avoid scrubs or cleansing devices.

  • Avoid Additional Treatments
Do not have chemical peels, laser treatments, microneedling, waxing, dermaplaning, or injectables during the Cosmelan® programme unless approved by your practitioner.

  • Maintain Skin Hydration
Apply recommended moisturising products to support skin barrier repair and comfort.

  • Results Develop Gradually
Improvements in pigmentation and skin tone occur progressively over several weeks. Individual results vary.

  • When to Contact the Clinic
If you experience severe discomfort, excessive swelling, blistering, or signs of infection, please contact the clinic promptly.
