When it comes to the tubes that are used for PRP/i-PRF treatments, some blood collection and blood test tubes are used but this is not ideal for a treatment like PRP/iPRF. Blood collection is one of the first steps in a PRP/iPRF treatment which is why some practitioners use phlebotomy tubes (it is the same step as a blood test, which is what those phlebotomy tubes are made for). Your aesthetician should always have your best interest at heart, therefore, it is much more effective and safer to use an extra sterilised and properly packaged device specified for PRP/i-PRF treatments.

Because the blood that is extracted from your body is being put back in as platelet-rich plasma, the apparatus that is used should be specialised and sterilised. That is why we use Universal PRP/i-PRF tubes which have a triple sterilised process and double packaging to ensure the cleanliness and success of your treatment is at the highest possible standard. They are also pyrogen-free meaning there are no bad microorganisms nor any illness and fevercausing substances that have come into contact before being used in your session.

Before and After

PROFHILO

If you want to further your results, profhilo gives you astonishing results and is a great addition to your session. Profhilo helps tighten the skin, even skin tone and add volume. It is simple, effective and will put the cherry on the top of your session!

Pre-Treatment

Preparation

Ensuring that you come to your session with clean skin. This means your practitioner has a clear base to work with and no impurities are on the skin. The week leading up to your treatment, it is imperative to stay hydrated and drink more water than you normally do. If you do not drink a higher quantity of water at least 5 days before your treatment, there is a higher chance that blood could clot during the procedure which would mean the treatment can not be done. Hydrating your body means hydrating your skin and this will minimise any breakouts or skin issues that can arise subsequent to your treatment. We recommend NOT to eat spicy foods and caffeine during the week leading up to your appointment. These will increase skin sensitivity and can cause flare ups for any existing skin conditions. Maintain a healthy diet. This not only helps you feel your best, but the quality of your blood will also be much better; giving you better results too. Avoid using exfoliating products at least 4 days before your facial. Avoid experimenting with new facial products and changing your skin routine (if you have one).

Post-treatment

Aftercare

The treated area of skin may feel slightly tender and appear red and swollen afterwards, appearances may be similar to mild sunburn. These effects will resolve naturally and should be much improved after 48 hours but may take longer to settle. You may experience some minor bruising which may take 1-2 weeks to resolve in some cases. • Cold compress can be helpful to aid resolution of swelling, Arnica cream can be helpful for bruising resolution. • If you experience any mild discomfort you can take some simple over the counter painkillers such as paracetamol. • You may experience localised tenderness, swelling or bruising from where your blood sample was taken. Bruising may take up to 2 weeks to fully resolve. • Use a mild cleanser with tepid water to clean your face for 3 days after the treatment and gently dry the treated area. Keep your hands clean when touching your face. • Avoid any perfumes, fake tan or other harsh chemicals for 72 hours after treatment. • Avoid any makeup for 24 hours after treatment as this can increase the risk of infection. • Avoid rubbing or picking the treated area. • Avoid any skin exfoliation for 72 hours following treatment. • It is important to use a regular moisturising cream around two to three times a day on the treated area. Use more regularly if you feel the skin dry or peeling. • Avoid any products that contain alpha hydroxy acids, retinol, and glycolic acid for at least 7 days after treatment. • Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, sunbeds and exposure to heat for 72 hours after treatment. These can cause sweating which can irritate the delicate skin and slow down your ability to heal quickly. • Avoid swimming for 72 hours after treatment. • Avoid any excess alcohol or caffeine for 48 hours after treatment. • Wear SPF 30 or greater sunscreen for at least 2 weeks following treatment as your skin will be more sensitive to sunlight afterwards. • Avoid any further cosmetic treatments e.g. Botox or dermal filler for 2 weeks following treatment, or ask your practitioner for advice. • Avoid any hair removal treatments such as waxing for 2 weeks after treatment or until the initial redness and swelling has resolved.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How is PRP / i-PRF used for face and body restoration?
PRP treatments can help support wound healing in trauma and joint injury but it can also be used for facial rejuvenation. Because the treatments use a patient’s own blood and tissues, PRP/i-PRF injections are safe and can be administered alone or used alongside other procedures.
These procedures consist of two elements: plasma, or the liquid portion of blood, and
platelets, a type of blood cell that plays an important role in healing throughout the body. Platelets are well-known for their clotting abilities, but they also contain growth factors that can trigger cell reproduction and stimulate blood flow and collagen production
whilst healing the treated area.This means that it is perfect for restoration of the skin, diminishing skin issues, reducing signs of ageing, body aching, and general pain.

What can PRP/i-PRF be used to treat?
Despite PRP and i-PRF injections being used for muscle and joint injuries, PRP and i-PRF is
commonly used for cosmetic purposes too. This is because of the great benefits this treatment has.

Because of how well PRP/i-PRF boosts collagen production, increases blood flow and rejuvenates the skin, it is perfect for facial treatments!

The benefits of PRP can include:

  • Reconstruction of injured tissue;

  • Crinkling and wrinkling of the face, neck, eyes, jawline, other body areas;

  • Prevention of painful inflammatory processes;

  • Prevents and reduces signs of ageing;

  • Delay in progression of the disease and the need for an artificial joint;

  • Firms and tightens the skin;

  • Reduce acne scars;

  • Plumps skin, giving a more youthful appearance.

What is the recovery like for PRP/i-PRF face and body restoration?
Patients may experience some localised pain and swelling from their injection, which will subside quickly.
It is a non-invasive outpatient treatment meaning you can go about your daily activities but please note there will be some redness and visual side effects (although harmless and subside quickly). Although these don’t affect your daily life, if you don’t want people to see this, you will need to plan your day around your treatment.
The full effect of the treatment may take 3-4 weeks to become evident and will continue to improve
over the next weeks and months. Studies suggest one injection can last at least 12 months and will delay the need for surgical joint replacements over time.

How quickly will I see results?
A reduction in fat deposits can usually be seen after just one treatment, however between three and eight sessions are required to see the optimal effect in large area. The speed at which results are seen will vary depending on the stability of the cell membranes; younger patients are more likely to results after a longer period. Results may vary from physician to physician and case by age.

Why do I have to minimise exercise levels after my PRP session?
After the plasma-rich platelets (PRP/i-PRF) are injected, they won't take effect immediately. They need time to rebuild any damages but also positively treat the chosen areas. Any exercise after PRP injection therapy makes it hard for the platelets to attach to the tissues easily, slowing down the healing process.
While you will get results, they won’t be as effective as they could be.
